About the Role

Opportunity in an Independent Law firm.

A dynamic firm is looking for a dedicated Associate to join its respected Corporate Tax team, which includes a blend of experienced solicitors, chartered accountants, and tax advisors. The team is known for delivering insightful and precise advice on UK and Scottish tax law.

In this role, you will primarily provide guidance on the tax implications of corporate, commercial, and property transactions. The team's expertise spans company acquisitions, disposals, restructurings, complex property transactions, and investment fund structuring. Additionally, they advise on creating tax-efficient employee share schemes and optimizing tax strategies for restructuring and insolvency cases. The team also offers bespoke tax consultancy services to accountancy and legal firms, particularly focusing on property taxation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer strategic tax advice on corporate structuring and draft related transactional documents.
  • Advise on SDLT/LBTT, VAT, capital allowances, and general tax planning for property transactions.
  • Assist business owners with tax planning, investment structuring, and reorganisation of business entities.
  • Provide counsel on devolved tax issues and the development of employee share schemes, including their impact on corporate transactions.
  • Guide on investment fund structuring and executive remuneration strategies.
  • Deliver tax updates through presentations, webinars, and seminars for both internal and external audiences.
  • Work with partners to support business development and team strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with the firm's information security standards.

Requirements

4-8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a similar role.

Legal or ATT/CTA qualifications.

Strong interest in tax, with a practical and business-focused approach.

Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on tax law changes.
