This firm is seeking an experienced and accomplished Audit Director to join their dynamic Financial Services team. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a technical expert and strategic advisor, collaborating closely with senior management and our valued client base. Leveraging your extensive audit experience, you will lead multi-disciplinary teams in the seamless execution of complex assurance engagements, ensuring exceptional service delivery and adherence to all relevant regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance to the client service management team in the formulation of audit strategy and planning
  • Lead audit teams, ensuring timely completion of assignments within established budgets
  • Monitor and control time spent on audit engagements, maintaining a keen focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Manage the full audit lifecycle, from planning through to the finalisation of reports, in alignment with agreed timelines
  • Foster a high-performing, engaged team through effective people management, including coaching, feedback, and professional development
  • Uphold the firm's standards and procedures, maintaining control and stability under pressure
  • Draft audit opinion summaries, group reporting, and audit committee documentation
  • Ensure accurate and timely client billing in accordance with agreed plans
  • Actively pursue new business opportunities, collaborating with colleagues across the organization
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for senior management and clients, building strong working relationships
  • Deliver confident and compelling presentations to clients, showcasing the firm's service offerings and capabilities

Qualifications:

  • ACA, CA, or ACCA (or equivalent) professional qualification
  • Extensive experience leading external audits and managing a diverse portfolio of clients
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and developing high-performing audit teams
  • Proficient in the application of UK GAAP/FRS102, IFRS, and other relevant technical standards
  • Adept in the use of audit software and Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrable client relationship management expertise, particularly within the insurance sector
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to provide vision and deliver on business development initiatives
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders
