Opportunity in a Small firm.

This firm seeks a professional to manage a diverse portfolio of personal tax clients, including non-domiciled individuals and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). The role involves handling complex tax returns as a case-handler, overseeing more straightforward cases as a manager, and supporting advisory work. Current expertise and knowledge in the field are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, with a focus on non-doms and HNWIs.
  • Assist managers, directors, and partners in delivering advisory services, including preparing reports on inheritance tax (IHT) planning, residency, pre-arrival planning, offshore trusts, and new non-dom regulations.
  • Prepare for and attend client meetings, ensuring timely and budget-compliant work completion.
  • Gather necessary information for tax returns, coordinating with third-party professionals and clients.
  • Demonstrate technical competence in handling all aspects of income tax, including National Insurance, and capital gains tax.
  • Prepare and electronically file tax returns, seeking client approval beforehand.
  • Address routine correspondence and perform ad-hoc assignments related to inheritance, income, and capital gains tax.
  • Assist with s9A enquiries and prepare disclosures under the digital disclosure facility.
  • Manage and prioritise work to maintain high client care standards and meet HM Revenue deadlines, working independently and proactively.
  • Monitor personal time budgets and chargeability.

Equipment and Skills

  • Proficiency in CCH software and SharePoint.
  • Minimum CTA qualification with at least four years of private client tax experience, specifically in non-dom cases.
  • Strong organisational and computer skills, particularly in Word and Excel.
