About the Role

Opportunity in a Top 30 firm.

This firm is seeking a VAT Manager to join their expanding team. The position sought is for a VAT manager who will provide expert advice to clients, partners, and staff of this firm on matters of indirect taxation, and support the ongoing development of corporate VAT services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and reviewing complex VAT returns and annual adjustments, particularly for clients with partial exemption or business/non-business apportionment.
  • Preparing voluntary VAT declarations.
  • Conducting VAT health checks on client activities and preparing reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Advising on VAT treatment of transactions, place of supply queries, and contract reviews.
  • Providing guidance on property-related issues, such as new builds, building works, the capital goods scheme, option to tax, sales (including TOGCs), and associated cost issues.
  • Responding to ad hoc inquiries from clients and team members.
  • Contributing to VAT team publications.
  • Delivering training to clients and staff as appropriate.
  • Identifying potential work opportunities from existing and prospective clients.
  • Exploring cross-selling opportunities in audit, tax, and strategic advisory services.
  • Developing relationships with client advisors, including lawyers.

Candidate requirements:

  • Part-qualified, qualified, or qualified by experience CTA and/or AIIT.
  • Experience in providing VAT planning and structuring advice on transactions.
  • Familiarity with the diverse VAT issues faced by clients in the corporate sector.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with team members and communicate complex issues clearly to colleagues, clients, and HM Revenue & Customs, both verbally and in writing.
  • A positive, practical attitude and a willingness to support the team and pursue continuous learning and career progression.
