About the Role

This firm is seeking a Tax Director. You will lead teams in delivering comprehensive tax due diligence and M&A structuring services to clients. This role encompasses both domestic and international clientele, presenting opportunities for professionals with either UK-focused or cross-border experience.
The ideal candidate should possess substantial experience in transaction taxes and may have a background in leadership and strategy development. However, this position also offers an excellent opportunity for individuals ready to step into their first leadership role, with potential for future partnership.
Role & Responsibilities
Service Delivery - Due Diligence
- Oversee the delivery of intricate tax due diligence projects, including leading the provision of corporate tax due diligence services.
- Coordinate with colleagues across VAT, employment taxes, other specialised tax services, and international teams to manage the overall tax due diligence process.
- Collaborate with the transaction services team to secure and successfully execute combined financial and tax due diligence projects.
- Cultivate client relationships through engagements and proactively pursue post-deal opportunities identified during due diligence.
Service Delivery - M&A Structuring Advice
- Lead the provision of tax advisory and structuring services, ensuring the successful completion of complex tax advisory projects.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of M&A tax advisory clients, managing the overall client relationship, assignment scoping, and fee negotiations.
- Coordinate with the deal advisory team to deliver seamless client service on combined M&A projects, integrating tax services with financial reporting and other advisory services.
- Ensure that tax advice is effectively communicated and implemented in all aspects of the transaction.
Strategic and Operational Leadership
- Collaborate with existing transaction tax partners to design and implement strategies supporting the growth of the transactions tax team.
- Enhance deliverables and processes to improve quality, including contributing to team training efforts.
- Manage key team members, supporting their development, appraisals, and overall performance management.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACA or CTA).
- Strong technical expertise in key tax issues affecting companies and shareholders during transactions.
- Experience in managing transactions and leading teams on complex assignments.
- Proven project management skills with experience in financial oversight, identifying overruns, and negotiating fees with clients.
- Commitment to mentoring and developing others within the team.
