About the Role
Opportunity in a Top 30 firm.
This firm seeks an experienced professional to deliver VAT advisory services to a diverse array of businesses, including large international groups across various industries. The role involves providing ad-hoc VAT advisory services, liaising daily with HMRC, overseeing the completion of VAT registration applications, and preparing other necessary HMRC forms and correspondence.
The position also requires addressing internal VAT queries and collaborating with international HLB overseas offices as needed. The successful candidate will participate in monthly VAT team meetings and contribute to the marketing and promotion of the VAT team. Additionally, they will assist in the development and expansion of the team by identifying opportunities for risk mitigation and cross-selling between service lines to ensure clients receive a proactive and effective service. Training and mentoring junior colleagues within the VAT team is also a key responsibility. The candidate must ensure adherence to the firm's technical, ethical, risk, and compliance procedures in all cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver VAT advisory services to a diverse mix of businesses and large international groups across various industries.
- Provide ad-hoc VAT advisory services.
- Liaise with HMRC daily.
- Oversee the completion of VAT registration applications.
- Prepare other HMRC forms and correspondence as necessary.
- Address internal VAT queries.
- Collaborate with international HLB overseas offices as required.
- Participate in monthly VAT team meetings.
- Contribute to the marketing and promotion of the VAT team.
- Assist in the development and expansion of the VAT team.
- Identify opportunities for risk mitigation and cross-selling between service lines.

- Ensure adherence to the firm’s technical, ethical, risk, and compliance procedures.
Qualifications:
- Comprehensive VAT technical and practical knowledge.
- Strong understanding of VAT issues affecting all industry sectors.
- Experience with large corporate and international VAT matters is advantageous but not essential.
- Knowledge of other business taxes is preferable but not essential.
- Proficiency in IT, including MS Office.
- Excellent communication and organisation skills.
