About the Role

Opportunity in a Leading firm.

This firm is seeking a seasoned professional to join our Business Tax Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and potentially reviewing UK corporation tax computations, monitoring reporting and payment deadlines, and working closely with the audit and accounts teams to provide advice on tax accounting entries and disclosures.

Key responsibilities include managing financial performance in line with KPIs, handling related correspondence with clients and HMRC, identifying opportunities for tax planning, risk mitigation, and cross-selling between service lines to ensure clients receive proactive and effective service. The role also involves assisting with various ad hoc projects and duties, as required, and ensuring adherence to the firm's technical, ethical, risk, and compliance procedures.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and potentially review UK corporation tax computations.
  • Monitor reporting and payment deadlines.
  • Collaborate with audit and accounts teams on tax accounting entries and disclosures.
  • Train and mentor junior colleagues within the Business Tax Team.
  • Provide corporation tax compliance proposals and quotes to prospective clients.
  • Coordinate and review other business tax-related returns, subject to experience.
  • Monitor and manage financial performance in line with KPIs.
  • Manage correspondence with clients and HMRC.
  • Identify opportunities for tax planning, risk mitigation, and cross-selling.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and duties as required.
  • Ensure adherence to the firm's technical, ethical, risk, and compliance procedures.

The ideal candidate will work largely autonomously, with support and oversight from the office’s tax partners and directors. Relationship management is crucial, and the candidate will contribute to effective team working, coordinate directly with clients, and collaborate with colleagues. Additionally, the role includes coaching, managing, mentoring, and appraising junior team members.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proficient in corporate tax technical and practical knowledge.
  • Good understanding of tax issues affecting OMBs and their shareholders.
  • Preferable but not essential knowledge of other business taxes and tax reporting processes.
  • Familiarity with UK accounting standards and competence in interpreting accounts and other financial information.
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office and databases; knowledge of Alphatax is ideal but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
